Iran didn't interfere in Bush v. Gore. Why should the U.S. interfere in Ahmadinejad v. Mousavi?
Why are so many politicians whining by the minute about U.S. not being involved in the Iranian election? Why?
Do they want the United States to rule the world? What is their logic?
Where is their outrage about the 50 million Americans without health insurance and probably another 50 million underinsured or inadequately insured?
Where is their outrage about the cost of higher education now unaffordable for more and more Americans?
When did this type of thinking take root in so many in the U.S.? Is it economics? Iranian oil? Iran's neighbor's oil? Is it religious fundamental fanaticism? Did the 19 thugs who drove planes into the buildings in 2001 cause a widespread lingering paranoia throughout America?
Hopefully this kind on nonsensical thinking will gradually fade away -- or at least greatly retract -- under President Obama's wise leadership.

Physicians who test to see if a surgery is necessary and the physician who does the surgery must not continue to be the same person. There is TOO much conflict of interest in this situation.
Actually future health care will likely need to be a three step process with three types of physicians involved. One who determines if and what tests should be performed. One who performs the tests and the physician who does the surgery or needed corrective procedure.
UPDATE:
Let's add one more category... preventive specialists. So that gives us four categories of physicians.
(1) Would be Dr. Preventions who would work with their patients to prevent medical problems. Probably Dr. Preventions will more and more rely on genetic testing and genetic analysis along with traditional preventative procedures.
(2) The next category of physicians as previously mentioned would be Dr. Testers. These physicians would receive patients referered from prevention specialists. They would be licensed to ONLY see patients referred from prevention specialists who suspect a medical problem. That would reduce the overall cost of medical care by drastically reducing the number of unnecessary tests.
(3) to be continued

The U.S. should invest $100 billion to provide 100Mbps wireless broadband internet access to ALL of our citizens. It would be the best investment since the Louisiana Purchase.

Health insurance companies must be eliminated. That alone will greatly decrease the cost of health care for Americans. Health care in America should be ran for the most part as a not-for-profit entity, a co-op if you will. A nationwide co-op that will be the single payer system that is so often mentioned.

An international election verification organization should be formed. This organization, possibly a branch of the United Nations, would be comprised of citizens from nations all over the world. This organization would travel to the nations of the world when elections are held and would oversee and verify the voting process and election results to help ensure that the citizens of the world are able to choose their own leaders and reduce or eliminate election fraud such as what apparently occurred last week in Iran.

A federal excise tax on candy water to help provide universal health care for America? That's a no brainer. Use the new revenue to pay for preventive care. The increase in the candy water price would also likely cause a decrease in obesity and diabetes.

The way to provide health care for all Americans is to tax the primary causes of bad health for Americans.

It's really hard to believe where some get the nerve to say some of the things about President Obama's Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. This wonderful lady is obviously one of the most intelligent and inspiring persons in the history of the American justice system. I try not to be negative and waste my time on deadbeats but I have to say that for some of these politicians in Washington now and in recent years it would be an insult to the word pathetic to use it to describe them.

Just saw an interesting documentary on PBS about Saudi Arabia. I couldn't help but wonder about what will happen to this nation when oil becomes $10 a barrel which I believe will happen within the next ten years.

"Without Washington, Jefferson and Franklin perhaps America would have never been born, without Lincoln perhaps America would have disintegrated, without Roosevelt perhaps America would have been conquered, without Obama perhaps the greatness of America would have been lost forever." -- by Steve Everett on April 20th, 2008.

Never been a huge fan of this royal family thing the British do but I have to give a thumbs up to Prince Charles on this endeavor.

Video clip from one of my favorite comedians, Bill Maher. And to my Republicans friends... it's just comedy. And by the way I don't consider myself a Democrat. When I cast my vote I'm voting for ideas, not for a particular party. The guy or lady with the ideas I believe in... that's who gets my vote whether they're Dem, Repub, Indy, etc.
It's time to end lifetime appointments to the Supreme Court. Twenty years should be plenty long enough. And while I'm on the Supreme Court it's also time to bring the court out of the dark and make all court cases available live online to the people who pay their salaries, the American taxpayers.

A nation's greatness can't just be judged on how easy it is to become rich but also on how difficult it is to become poor. -- by Steve Everett on April 25th, 2009.

Within one or two generations breakthroughs in clean, renewable energy will make residential (and possibly commercial) electric bills obsolete.
The world now seems to be coming to its senses after the first 8 years of the 21st century filled with ignorant political leadership in the United States and many other nations throughout the world.
In the coming decades intelligent leadership across the world will lead to enormous reductions in military budgets and those resources will be redirected to things such as clean energy, health care and education. In other words these resources will be redirected into quality of life investments which will bring about enormous and swift breakthroughs and advancements in these areas.

The cars of the future are beginning to arrive... really arrive, as in legally allowable on American roads. The technology is just about there, price still needs to come down. This is a video of an electric version of the Mini Cooper, it's called the Mini E.
The standard range now for electric cars seems to be in the 100 to 125 mile range. I predict that will double within two years and I also believe that mind boggling breakthroughs in charging times may be just around the corner. I also expect dramatic price drops in batteries in the near future. Increased battery life, rapid charging times and lower prices... these three things will turn the automobile industry upside down.
In the fall of 2007 I purchased a 40 mpg Toyota Yaris. I fully expect my next car purchase to be one that I will plug in, not pour in.

Tandom Surfing... Oh Yeah!
I've got to give this a try someday.
I'm in Kentucky and can't get to the beach much so subscribing to this podcast pacifies me a bit.

The best way to avoid unwanted Middle East actions in America is for America to get out of the Middle East. If America can develop energy independence then there will no longer be any strategic reason for military bases anywhere in the Middle East.
The end is near for oil based economies. Those nations who do not plan for that end will face enormous difficulty.

An economy without an effective regulatory system will function no better than a society without an effective legal system.

The first half of the 21st century should bring about a worldwide advancement in the way autos and homes are built. Cars should begin to be universally built to last decades instead of years and residential housing should begin to be universally built to last centuries instead of decades. Much of the technology to do both exists now and the missing pieces I believe could easily be developed in the next couple of decades.

The American economy cannot get healthy and stay healthy if the global economy is sick... and vice versa. Like it or not, the national economies of the world are now and forever intertwined and that interconnection will only continue to grow.

I believe I'm correct in saying that America is the only nation in the world that allows its citizens to be forced in to bankruptcy due to an illness. How much longer are we as a nation going to allow this?
